Next up today was a T5 1.9 102 bhp van. This came in and was quite smokey but was doing everything we wanted it to do. At stock this made 103 bhp and 235 nm so was healthy enough to remap. Once remapped though it started smoking heavily. On investigation and to the naked eye with the stock software the problem wasn’t evident buy with the increase in boost after a remap it made identifying the issue easy. A boost pipe was popping in and out from another one. This was happening because the clip to hold it in place was the wrong one, it was too big so it just slip up and back on boost oddly. We removed the pipes, cleaned them, reset the pipes using the correct clips and this was then pretty much smoke free and working perfectly. This left us a few hours later with 143 bhp and 320 nm of super smooth Pendle Performance torque. The cost for fixing the boost leak problem – zero.
