T6 euro 6 back from the dead

TH Performance

So a T6 euro 6 102 bhp van was dropped off with us as it wouldn’t start following breaking down. The owner was told it may have jumped a few teeth so the timing was out and this is exactly what happened. The cambelt was damaged and luckily for the owner it hadn’t completely snapped which would have meant a new engine. The owner also admitted not having replaced the cambelt when it should have been, this was a lucky escape.

So we stripped it all apart and fitted a new cambelt and water pump kit using genuine parts plus we set the timing up perfectly. It started first time and was running perfectly so it was time for a road test. Out on the road this van shuddered badly at low RPM when accelerating, it had been remapped before by another company. We advised the owner and said we could check this on our dyno which we did. We found that it had been remapped before and quite badly. This was making 128 bhp and 307 nm of torque. The torque was coming in at 1200 rpm and peaking at 1800 rpm which was the cause of the shuddering. The owner asked us to remove the software and to put it right.

First we put it back to stock and used the latest updated software for this van available then dyno’d it again. This time at stock it made 109 bhp and 255 nm of torque.

We then set about tuning it. Once tuned using the awesome Pendle Performance software it made 156 bhp and 323 nm of torque BUT with no juddering whatsoever because the torque is applied properly and across the full rev range not just at the beginning which may make it accelerate quickly but it then dies off and is flat. We then carries out our usual diagnostics so the van is handed back fault free , a dpf regen and also put the digital speedo on for him.

This van lives on. Thank you.
