Over the past 24 hours we had a lovely looking T4 2.5 88 bhp van on for Bilstein Shock absorbers and a full service too. On top of that the owner wanted the tuning box it had fitted removed and we are glad he did, the level of black smoke throughout the RPM range was shocking and it made crap power too.

With the tuning box fitted this made 106 bhp and 245 nm, with it removed it made 97 bhp and 214 nm, gains of 9 bhp and 31nm or put another way 9% more bhp and 14% more torque.

So, we removed the “tuning” box and remapped it properly. With a Pendle remap this made 124 bhp and 280 nm of super smooth torque and with a fraction of the smoke.

Those are gains of 18 bhp (17%) and 35 nm (14%) of torque over the tuning box but more importantly over the stock run the Pendle remap made 27 bhp (28%) more bhp and 66nm (31%) more torque.

Proper professional tuning done the right way.
