When the weather turns cold and icy we see a lot of vehicles with blown intercoolers turning up for one reason or another. Sadly we had to send this owner home to get an intercooler fitted before we can remap it as today is the only day where we have to close early and wouldn’t have time to fit one and remap it.
The cold means the teeny weeny poor design bands that hold the intercooler together get hot and cold, water splashes all over them and this means they expand and shrink in the hot and cold.
A band missing and swollen intercooler is very easy to spot. We can’t remap them like this, if it splits in half whilst it’s on the dyno you will be stuck in limp mode going home.
