This van came in on a trailer after having the turbo changed by a mobile mechanic. This mobile mechanic just swapper the turbo out. The owner complained of it smoking on idle and it was even worse when driving it and to top that off the engine ran away as well, luckily it stalled and no damage was done.

So why did it run away and smoke so badly? The mobile mechanic didn’t bother to check the intercooler and pipework for the oil (if the turbo gave way this is what you would check). This intercooler is full of oil which is going back into the turbo. The mobile mechanic didn’t even change the oil after fitting a new turbo thus voiding the warranty on it too.

Shocking work from the mobile mechanic, absolutely shocking.

We will play with this today and get it running properly with no smoke.
