In today was a T5 1.9 102 bhp van that has had quite a bit of work done to it. We were advised that it had an after market cylinder head with camshaft and related parts fitted. We advised the owner that the stock run only made 59 bhp and 155 nm of torque, down quite a bit. The owner said it was gutless and after careful consideration we decided to remap it to make it a bit more drivable. Normally we wouldn’t but we knew everything else was ok, the turbo was new and genuine, it was all good, apart from the head.
These 102 bhp vans make 102 bhp and 250 nm and once tuned they should make 138 bhp and 328 nm of torque or put in percentage gains they make 35% more bhp and 31% more torque.
Once this was tuned it made 105 bhp and 228 nm which is actually gains of 78% more bhp and 47% more torque. These are huge gains for a van that has the parts fitted it does and this will be a lot better to drive.
We wouldn’t normally do this but if it helps this customer and improves the van over what it currently is, and to when he can afford to have the head done properly we were glad to help.
